Grief itself is medicine.
I will help you process grief to find meaning from the experience and grow courage to shine again. Together we co-create the appropriate ceremony and rite of passage to help you through the bereavement process, with presence and kindness.
Grief is not a disorder, a disease or a sign of weakness. It is an emotional, physical and spiritual necessity, the price you pay for love.
Maraki offers a helping hand through your bereavement journey, to hold sacred space for you to weave through your pain, offering comfort and unconditional love.
Grieving is done in many ways, and part of the journey is finding the one that most resonates within. My approach is through art, sound and nature therapy, working with natural fibres and medicine dolls.
About Maraki
Maraki is an artist, Death Walker, consultant and facilitator. Her body of work includes community art & philanthropic projects. She has co-facilitated with various wellbeing practitioners & coaches around Victoria, and has recently trained in the sacred work of the Death Walker movement.
A Death Walker accompanies the dying, the dead, their families and loved ones through the journey of grief. My passion is to help people to die well; in love and comfort by creating contemporary ceremony to honour our beloved.
Medicine Doll gatherings are a transformative art form that contains an intentional, creative, and expressive arts process of making three dimensional figures that are known as healing dolls. These dolls assist you in releasing negative thoughts and fears that block your body's ability to heal physically, emotionally and spiritually. As your healing doll comes to life, you will connect with its Wairua - the spirit of a person.
Offerings
One-on-one Sessions
Maraki will work with you one-on-one to acknowledge and support your bereavement through art therapy, sound and walks in nature.
You don’t need to work through your grief alone. Allow yourself a warm and nurturing space to release and create in whatever form and shape you need. Connect to your spirit and earth to harness its loving and healing energy.
Ancestral Grief
As an indigenous Māori woman, Maraki has a strong connection to ancestral knowledge and support, which can help with intergenerational trauma, ancestral connection and healing. This can be as close as healing with a lost parent or sibling, or breaking generational patterns with those who have already transitioned.
Maraki offers one-on-one, group or family sessions to access this ancestral healing, clearing the grief for the generations to come.
